Research Projects: Consider Genialis as Your Partner

Research Projects: Consider Genialis as Your Partner

In addition to its collaborations with  individual industry and academia partners, Genialis participates in several international research projects. We consider these opportunities very much aligned with our long-term purpose of empowering researchers to engage more with their data. As project partners we leverage our data management, analytics and visualization technologies to provide much of the software engineering, thus allowing researchers to focus on science. Our products make data analysis accessible and the research process more collaborative.

Common Misconceptions Regarding Bacterial Genome Sequencing

Common Misconceptions Regarding Bacterial Genome Sequencing

Everyone seems to be sequencing bacterial genomes these days. Obviously, genome sequencing is a great tool and while it is only natural for small labs with tighter budgets to follow the trend, picking the right strategy may not at all be so obvious. Bacterial genomes are short and simple and there are tons of references in the databases. So why are many biologists surprised at the amount of effort required to get form the isolated DNA in the test tube to the finished genome in a form of a single FASTA record? This post deals with our picks for the […] Read more

BioBash Free – Introduction to Python for Biologists

BioBash Free – Introduction to Python for Biologists

June 16th 2015, Ljubljana, Slovenia – We have organized a BioBash FREE workshop called “Introduction to Python for Biologists”. It was a free community event open to the public with the aim to present the basic concepts of programming in Python especially to life science researchers and students.

Python is becoming the leading programming language among scientists today since

“it combines simple syntax, abundant online resources and a rich ecosystem of scientifically focused toolkits with a heavy emphasis on community.”1

As we quickly found out this proves to be very true. Almost 70 people showed up in the middle of the very busy exam period and together […] Read more

BioBash Summer School

BioBash Summer School

This workshop is aimed at PhD students and early career scientists with little or no programming experience. While introductory courses in the Linux command line and R will be given, the bulk of the workshop will focus on developing solid foundations in the Python programing language and its module for bioinformatics (BioPython).

All topics will be covered in the form of hands-on tutorials and will include exercises that immediately put these newly acquired skills into practice.

Throughout the week, each participant will work on a programming assignment (more information on this provided below) in order to develop a solution designed to be beneficial […] Read more
